Having attended COP26 in Glasgow recently, Bowdon resident and Conservative candidate, Dr Shengke Zhi talked to local pupils about what he had learnt at the international conference and how youngsters can make positive impacts towards 'Net Zero' in their day-to-day activities.

Dr Zhi, a father of a young daughter, is a chartered engineer in the energy sector and provides engineering support to reduce emissions and generate clean energy.

Addressing the schoolchildren, he said "It is vital for all of us to understand the climate emergency. We must all be aware of what we can do to achieve "Net Zero' and a sustainable future. It ranges from reducing carbon footprints to studying STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). As a parent, I am also keen to let younger generations know about the opportunities of energy transition and the bright future they can and will embrace."

As a candidate for Bowdon in the forthcoming Council elections, Dr Zhi believes in the importance of quality education for all children, protecting the environment and maintaining green spaces.
